The best Furrows Shropshire Premier Bowls League title race in years has been blown wide open again.
Champions St Georges were stunned 11-3 at Wrockwardine Wood last night, two of their winners coming in the back four, while Castlefields were scoring a sensational 10-4 derby win at Meole Brace after leading 4-0 and 7-1.
But it’s Wem USC who replace the Dragons at the top after they scored another big home win, this time 12-2 against Newport.
The Services Boys’ trip to face St Georges next Friday already looks a potentially decisive one.
Castlefields weren’t the only away winners either, Ifton storming to an 11-3 success at under-pressure Childs Ercall.
That pressure mounted as bottom club Donnington Wood beat Archibald Worthington 8-6 for only their second win of the season to be just a solitary point behind.
Ford closed the gap on fourth-placed Chester Road by beating them 11-3 while Sir John Bayley saw off Bylet 10-4.
