Winning garden open to visitors

Mary Bower of Bridgwalton House, Morville, winner of the over-one-third-of-an-acre category of the 2007 Garden of the Year Competition, sponsored by the Shropshire Star, is opening her garden a week on Sunday for the National Gardens Scheme.

Take a quick photo tour with our resident gardens expert Martin Ford.

Mary has now opened her garden to the public

Mary has created her garden from scratch and it is a true plantsman’s garden with many unusual trees, shrubs and herbaceous perennials.

This is the third time she has won the competition with this garden, in addition to winning with her previous garden across the road.

The long front garden is mainly to the right of the drive and is dominated by choice trees and shrubs.

A border on the left partly conceals the garage and a gap in the hedge, beside the house, takes you through into the back garden which has been divided into sections so you only see a portion of it from any one place.
