Woodbridge gets call for Olympics

Nick WoodbridgeShropshire modern pentathlete Nick Woodbridge was today named in the British team for the Beijing Olympic Games.

Telford’s Woodbridge and Sam Weale both qualified through their positions on the UIPM’s Olympic ranking list - a measure of their performances across the year up to the start of June 2008.

Weale and Woodbridge join Heather Fell and Katy Livingston in Team GB for Beijing, which means Great Britain will have the maximum complement of four pentathletes at the 2008 Olympic Games.

Simon Clegg, Team GB 2008 Chef de Mission, said: “The BOA are delighted to welcome both Sam and Nick in to Team GB, ensuring a full compliment to the Modern Pentathlon team in Beijing.

“I wish them both well in their final preparations for the Games.”
