Plans to revamp rundown flats site

Work on transforming a rundown tower block in Telford into 52 luxury apartments could start as early as October if the plans get the go ahead, developers revealed today.

Russell Harrison PLC is hoping to transform the Manor Heights site in Hadley into a contemporary apartment complex which will attract more young professionals to the area.

It submitted detailed plans to Telford & Wrekin Borough Council today.

Managing director Russell Harrison said: “If we are successful in our planning application then we could start work as early as October.

“It is all dependent on the council’s view of our plans of course, but the site is crying out for someone to take it in hand and we’re confident that our scheme will make it something the whole community can be proud of.”

The development would offer two studio, four one-bedroom, 30 two-bedroom (including some penthouse), and 16 three-bedroom apartments.

The plans also include a gym and external design features such as stainless steel cladding and feature lighting.

Mr Harrison said that a decision on the plans was expected from the council within 10 to 12 weeks and, if the company is given the green light, it hopes to have it completed within 12 months.
