World ladies’ champion Anastasia Dobromyslova is expected to be the star attraction at this weekend’s Shropshire Darts Open.
The Russian, who plays county darts for Clwyd, claimed the BDO prize at Frimley Green in January.
And tournament organisers have been told she will be at the Anstice Memorial Centre in Madeley on Sunday to compete for a prize fund of at least £1,000.
And there are hopes that Darryl Fitton, a former BDO world champion semi-finalist and World Masters finalist, and PDC star Chris Mason could also be amongst the field.
“We are told Anastasia is definitely entering and there are rumours that Darryl and Chris will be playing,” said Peter Dykes, chairman of Shropshire Darts.”Hopefully we can get some big names entering and a good field.
“We had 87 last year and we are hoping to go through 100 this time.”
Last year’s winner Martin Angel, who defeated Shropshire’s Kevin Harris in the final, will be attempting to retain his title.
Entries at £8 can be accepted on the day before 11am, with the action expects to start around 11.30am.
The competition will continue a bumper year of darts for Shropshire, after Telford’s International Centre played host to two PDC Players Championships in March, both won by 13-times world champion Phil Taylor.
Meanwhile, the AGM for Shropshire Darts and the Shropshire Super League will be staged the following weekend.
The meeting for Shropshire darts will on Saturday, July 5, with the Super League gathering will be staged 24 hours later. Both meetings will be staged at 1pm.
