Wolves are set to complete the signing of Derby midfielder David Jones this weekend for a fee believed to be around £1m.
Jones, 23, is in the final stages of completing his move to Molineux to become manager Mick McCarthy’s third summer signing.
Contract negotiations have been difficult and drawn out but it is thought that a deal has been agreed, medicals passed and only formalities remain.
McCarthy sees the former England Youth and Under-21 international as the man required to unlock the opposition defence as they look to make a serious push for promotion to the Premiership.
Jones, who started his career as a trainee with Manchester United, signed for the Rams in 2007 after a successful two month loan.
Meanwhile, Wolves look unlikely to succeed in their bid to capture striker Aaron McLean after Peterborough slapped a £5m price tag on his head. Wolves are said to offering around £2m.
“Aaron McLean will score a lot of goals next season and taking a couple of million pounds from a championship club would be the worst bit of business I have ever done,” said Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony.

Player pressure may bring these deals closer. I would like to see both but 7 mil for both - is that value for money??
