Woman bit pensioner in struggle

A 24-year-old Telford woman bit her 70-year-old stepfather on the thumb during a row at his home, a court heard.

Hayley Pendleton admitted assaulting her stepfather, Malcolm Powell, causing him actual bodily harm in the incident last September.

Pendleton, of Proctors Place, Wrockwardine Wood, was made the subject of an 18-month supervision order and ordered to do 80 hours’ community service when she appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday.

She was also ordered to pay £100 costs and £250 compensation to Mr Powell.

The court heard their relationship had broken down in 2003.

On the day Pendleton had gone to visit her mother and Mr Powell had gone out, but he returned to find her still there and drunk.

A struggle ensued and that was when Mr Powell was bitten.
