TV signals blocked by new theatre

Shrewsbury’s new £30 million theatre is blocking television signals for residents in eight flats in the town, council bosses have confirmed.

The huge theatre, currently being built next to the river in Frankwell, stands between the block of flats and the Wrekin transmitter.

Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council today said it would install a satellite dish on 23B Frankwell to boost the signal for residents after it received complaints from people whose signal was affected.

SABC said that after receiving complaints from residents living in the shadow of the new building three properties were tested by an independent assessor.

The assessor said two of the properties were not affected by the height of the theatre, but 23B Frankwell might be.

Andy Goldsmith, assistant council manager at SABC, said: “The independent assessor says the theatre construction may be responsible for the loss of signal because it is directly in the line of sight of the Wrekin transmitter. We will carry out works for these people to boost their television signal.”

Where I live there is a hill in front of the Wrekin transmitter (accepted it has been there a while) but I want a dish too.

Anyone able to lodge a complaint with BBC and ITV? I’ve never known reception so bad on both channels for so long and I live in Harlescott! Suggestions accepted as long as it’s not a digital receiver - can’t afford one - sorry.
