The 133rd West Mid Show experienced the “worst conditions” ever seen by show organisers, with wind and rain leading to the cancellation of events.

The Mid Wales Falconry display was cancelled due to the weather and the Red Devils Parachute display was scrapped on both days due to the high winds and low cloud base. A fly-past by an RAF Hawk jet was also called off. Shropshire-based Percussion Unlimited had to flee the Village Green stage when winds became too strong and a speaker crashed to the stage, narrowly missing one of the musicians.

Chairman David Tudor said: “I am very grateful to the general public for their support. There were a few disappointments but talking to members of the public, they thought it was an amazing show.” Tents and gazebos left up after Saturday’s Ruyton-XI-Towns charter celebrations were damaged in the high winds.
