Mulgrew set for a switch to Swindon

cmulgrew.jpgSwindon are preparing a £125,000 bid to end defender Charlie Mulgrew’s Wolves nightmare.

Robins boss Maurice Malpas is set to offer six figures for the former Celtic left-back, with the offer believed to include various appearance-related add-ons.

Manager Mick McCarthy will surely be tempted by the chance to cash in on a player who played the last of his six League games for the club in November 2006.

He is currently the fourth choice left-back behind George Elokobi, Michael Gray and Daniel Jones.

Southend, where Mulgrew spent three months on loan last season, also want him but boss Steve Tilson could not match Wolves’ asking price.

Malpas is a big fan of the left-back, who he managed in the Scotland under-21 squad, with Mulgrew also keen on the switch.
