AFC Telford United supremo Lee Carter today issued a bullish close season appraisal of his club’s fortunes - and insisted they are close to breaking into the Blue Square Premier.
The Bucks narrowly missed out on returning to the top flight of non-League football last season when they were beaten by Barrow in the Blue Square North semi-finals.
But chairman Carter has already sensed the “positivity” returning to the club - and, after a summer of squad strengthening, is eyeing another sustained crack at promotion in 2008-9.
“I have never, ever known such a positive vibe around the club,” he said.
“From boardroom to terrace, we have real duty to go out and bang the drum about this club and enthuse people about our values, vision and ambitions and more and more people seem to be wanting to join us.
“We made some real cracks in the ceiling between us and the Conference National last season and I feel that with one more big push we may just break through.
“I think coming so close to promotion actually made everyone realise that we need to raise our game on and off the field even more.
“The Board are more determined than ever to drive this club on and, as I said in the aftermath of last season, if we have to work 24 hours a day to get the product right and to make people proud of the club that they support, then we will.”
