A decision on the future of services being provided at two Powys post office branches will be made within the following six weeks, Post Office Limited officials have announced.
Consultations over the future of services provided at branches in Berriew, near Welshpool, and Llanbister, near Llandrindod Wells, started yesterday.
Following strong feedback and information from meetings, Post Office has decided to proceed with alternative solutions for outreach services at both branches.
Post Office’s new proposals for Berriew include a partner service for about 90 hours each week offering a range of the most commonly used post office products and services, including collecting benefits in cash. Proposals for Llanbister include an outreach service point.
A Post Office spokesman said:”Having taken the responses to local public consultation and all relevant factors into account, we have decided to carry out a further local public consultation on the type of outreach services which will replace these branches.”
He said all comments would need to be received by July 28. Earlier this month, Post Office announced its decision on whether to close or cut services at 23 of the county’s branches. Six will close, 11 will have mobile or partner outreach services and the cases of four others are still being reviewed.
