Golf day a success

bus16tbp.jpgTelford Business Partnership hosted a successful golf day at the Telford Golf and Spa Hotel in memory of former founder and board member Roy Hawthorne.

Winning team NRG Networking were awarded the Roy Hawthorne Memorial Cup and helped raise over £763 with proceeds going to the Severn Hospice and the Princess Royal Hospital.

Organisers said 17 teams, which included Towler Shaw Roberts, Clear Design, Martin Kaye Solicitors and Barbers, participated in the 18-hole event all driving it out for the prestigious cup.

Other awards up for grabs included Nearest the Pin which went to Guy Birkett from FBC Manby Bowdler and Longest Drive awarded to Peter Jenson from Arno BV part of Maine Marketing.

Chairman of TBP Andrew Mason said: “Local businesses have been very generous, by donating some excellent raffle prizes. Donations included an overnight stay, dinner for two and spa treatment at the Telford Golf and Spa hotel, a clay pigeon shoot for four people at Minsterley Ranges and a meal at the Apley Arms for four people.”

TBP business development manager and organiser, Nicki Openshaw said: “Congratulations to NRG Networking and thank you to everyone involved, as the support we’ve received has been fantastic.”

Team captain Trevor Price from NRG Networking added: “We’ve had a great day raising money for local causes and all the team members are looking forward to being challenged as champions next year.”
