County team tweaked for Staffs

No major changes, just some tactical switches - that’s Shropshire’s recipe for more success in the Endsleigh county bowls championship.

Having beaten reigning champions Warwick & Worcester and mighty Cheshire, Shropshire know victory over Staffordshire on July 6 would clinch their qualifying group title and a place in the semi-finals.

So the county’s selectors make just one change, Newport’s Dave Rhodes returning after being unable to play against Cheshire due to illness - Rich Morris (Wrockwardine Wood) making way.

But with Whitchurch club District picked to stage the home leg, four of the regular away party make the switch.

They are the Chester Road trio of Andy Moss, Paul Latham and Mark Holland plus Derek Wright (Wem USC).

Heading for Hammerwich are Wayne Phillips and Adie Rowe (Meole Brace), Simon Parsonage (Castlefields) and Burway star Wayne Rogers.

* Donnington Wood 1 will stage the Alan Mayhew Trophy final between Castlefields and Chester Road on Wednesday, June 25.
