Wolves remain stuck in a transfer waiting game over six deals the club are trying to push through.
Despite a meeting of the Championship’s most influential power brokers this week, Molineux chief executive Jez Moxey admitted Wolves were no further forward in their efforts to get next season’s squad signed, sealed and delivered.
Wolves are understood to have half a dozen bids sitting on the blotting pads of clubs at home and beyond.
Two of the offers are believed to be for foreign-based players, while supporters can have a reasonable stab at identifying the UK quartet - Kyle Lafferty at Burnley, Christophe Berra at Hearts, David Jones at Derby and striker Aaron McLean at Peterborough.
But Moxey has now returned from the two-day get-together of the division’s senior officers and chairmen in Portugal.
Officials from Burnley and Derby, with whom Wolves have spoken about striker Lafferty and midfielder Jones respectively, were under the same roof.
But Wolves senior officer confirmed today: “Unfortunately we are not yet any nearer in any of our plans for signing players.”
Moxey is instead spending most of his time dealing with relentless speculation about players.
