The message on the back read something like: “Newport, I.H. (? - this part is difficult to read) At last I have arrived at my journey’s end. 12.0 I called a Beals (?) at Gnosall.

“It is hot work and a heavy road. Love T.G.P.”

It was posted to Miss H Andrews, Nursing Institution, Lichfield Road, Stafford. The postcard itself was published by Cartwrights, Upper Bar Newsagency, Newport.
