Bishop’s Castle Civic Society has declared it has “no faith in the district council’s ability to handle major planning applications”.
Member Michael Dawes tabled the motion at the society’s annual general meeting at the town hall.
Mr Dawes is also vice-chairman of the Bishop’s Castle Group which has been fighting plans for the biomass plant in the town.
The motion was unanimously agreed and the society also pledged £200 to the Bishop’s Castle Group.
South Shropshire District Council was due to make a decision on the power plant on May 20, but it was postponed for a second time.
