Waugh’s 100-1 winner

Shropshire horse racing trainers are becoming the ones to follow for 100-1 winners.

Whitchurch’s Steve Wynne set the ball rolling last week when his first ever winner under rules - Tykie Two - came in at the huge price at Southwell.

Woore handler Brian Baugh followed suit yesterday when he saddled Avoncreek to success in the six furlong handicap at Yarmouth at the same odds.

“He has got ability and it just dropped right for him yesterday,” said a delighted Baugh, whose victory cost punters the chance to claim the £459,579 jackpot on offer at Yarmouth.

Tern Hill trainer Heather Dalton was also in the winners enclosure last night when Go West was returned the 11-4 joint favourite winner of the Beginners Chase at Southwell.
