Time is running out for comedy fans to see hit TV funnyman Jimmy Carr when his new show comes to Telford next month.
Jimmy is to stage a warm up performance of his new show the Joke Technician at Oakengates Theatre @ The Place on July 24 before it goes out on a nationwide tour this autumn.
There was initially only going to be one Telford performance, at 8pm, but, after that sold out in just one day, another show has been arranged for 10pm.
Theatre spokesman Vicki Cotterell said: “One of the most original and distinctive stars on TV, radio, stage and now the big screen, Jimmy’s success has risen to astronomic heights throughout the last couple of years and 2008 will hopefully be no exception. After the first performance sold out so quickly, we are expecting demand to see the late show to be equally high and so I would urge people to book now.”
Jimmy joined oil giant Shell as a marketing executive after leaving Cambridge. Two years later he took redundancy and joined J C Productions Ltd, working with his father and began his stand-up career.
His first film was The Colour of Funny and he has also appeared in Confetti, Alien Autopsy, Storm Breaker and I Want Candy.

Why is it that only newspapers reffer to a comic as a “funnyman”?
Sorry, but Jimmy Carr has only ever appeared to be crude, arrogant, and unfunny as far as comedy goes, I personaly find this man quite revolting.
How he can call himeslf a comedian, I just don’t know.
After watching Jimmy Carr at the place, it must be said he had the audience laughing all the way through. Absolutely top class and a snip at £15.
