Despite not playing, this is a big week for Shrewsbury Town as the club could net a much-needed windfall if former goalkeeper Joe Hart wins his first England cap, writes our Shrews blogger James Pugh.
Not only will it be great news for the club which will mean the money can be spent on signing some decent players, but also for Joe, who has had a fantastic season for Man City and deserves his chance at international level.
It’s always nice to see home-grown lads progress through our youth system and go on to bigger and better things. I have no doubts that we will see him at some point on Wednesday against USA at Wembley, so good luck Joe and make that number 1 jersey your own.
Another Town player that looks set to represent his country is Guy Madjo after being picked for the Cameroon under 23 squad for the Olympics.
Although it will mean he will miss the beginning of the season, its great for him and it will be nice to know the town of Shrewsbury is being represented in the Olympics. Plus by the start of the season I hope that we will have signed a 20+ goals striker which will mean we will not miss Madjo.
Although after having a poor season on the field our success off it has continued after winning the Directors Best Hospitality Award For League Two.
This award joins the others we got for Best Pitch and Best Matchday Programme. It’s nice to see that we are getting the rewards after building a new stadium although it is shame that these couldn’t be seen on the pitch.
I recently read that Paul Simpson is not after a new goalkeeper. What do fans think about the two that we have got? I would agree with the manger here and think that both Garner and Bevan are good enough to do well at this level and will prove it next season as long as we can strengthen our defence with signing a decent centre half to play alongside Langmead.
In terms of which one should be number 1, I am undecided and would like to see Bevan play more before giving my decision. I thought he did a decent job towards the back end of last season and think he deserves his chance at the beginning of next season.

If Joe Hart only comes on in the second half on Wednesday does that count as a cap and do Town get the £500,000

I think so Denis, it’s still an appearance so you would get a cap. Just hope he does come on.

i hope he comes on and that town invests this money wisely. any chance hull city will release on a free transfer their 39 year old striker, who put them in the premiership, shades of the late great arthur rowley

We possibly have a good enough man in Garner between the sticks, but the fact that he didn’t have a very switched on defence in front of him did him no favours. Ironically Joe Hart had the same problem at Man City and saved their season almost singlehandedly. That Mr Simpson is where to look - the back four; never been the same since Drummond left.
