Lakin offered Wolves role

Paul LakinWolves are understood to have offered Hull Kingston Rovers Rugby League club’s Paul Lakin a head of commercial role.

Reports in Hull suggested Lakin had been headhunted to replace Jez Moxey as chief executive.

But Wolves today dismissed the claim. Matt Grayson, the club’s head of communications, said: “The only vacancy we have been talking to people about is a head of commercial role.

“It may be that in these circumstances, a misunderstanding has arisen.”

Lakin, who is currently chief executive at Hull KR, has been lined up to replace part of the role done by former head of PR and marketing Stuart Cain, who left several months ago.

Lakin joined the rugby club as commercial manager from Hull Trains before the 2005 season, having no previous sporting background.

At Hull, he has overseen a major transformation of the club’s fortunes, with promotion to the Super League and plans to build a new stand.
