Movie buff Mark Wilson has been crowned Shropshire’s number one Indiana Jones fan after winning a quickfire quiz about the intrepid archaeologist.
The 22-year-old, who is a traffic and travel announcer on local radio station Telford FM, scored top marks in the final of a competition held at the town’s Odeon cinema last night.
Mark has been a fan of Indiana Jones since his childhood years - he fondly remembers watching the early movies with his babysitter, and chose Indiana Jones as the subject for his 10,000-word university dissertation, which earned him a degree in film studies.
His prize for winning last night’s competition was an official Indiana Jones hat and whip, and a chance to be one of the first in the county to see the new movie, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

The runner up was 15-year-old Stephanie Griffiths, who came across from Oswestry to take part. The Marches School pupil said her ambition was to be an archaeologist.
“I always hold on to my seat when Jones is dodging bullets or running from boulders, they are so action packed,” she said.
The other finalists were Palvinder Nahal from Hadley, Carl Vanderworning from St Georges, Robert Louis from Perton and Mark Wilson from Priorslee.
Odeon marketing assistant, Kirsty Pearce, said: “I’m glad we can now claim we have found the biggest Indiana Jones fan in Shropshire.
“It was a nice evening and people got into the spirit of it by dressing up.”
