Simon Forsdick has agreed terms to remain at AFC Telford United - as manager Rob Smith sets about completing his “strongest ever squad” at the New Bucks Head.
Left-sided player Forsdick, who signed from Hednesford last August, has been rewarded for a consistent first season with the Bucks which saw him play 35 times and score five goals.
He agreed non-contract terms last night, and Smith is delighted to have secured Forsdick’s services for next season.
“I’m really pleased because Simon has been fantastic since he came in and has probably done better than I expected him to,” said Smith.
“He is one of the most important signings of the summer because he has pretty much become irreplaceable.”
Forsdick’s deal means the holidaying Michael Husbands is the only member of the existing squad yet to learn of his fate.
Smith has been delighted with his summer’s work so far - and he and assistant manager Larry Chambers are now turning his attention to strengthening his hand further.
“It’s been hard work because we have hardly been home for the last week and a half but it’s gone well,” said Smith.
“The great thing is how positive the players are and how they all wanted to stay.
“We now want to bring in a striker and a centre-half and if we get the two we want to bring into the club, I think it would be the strongest squad we have had at Telford.
“We have started negotiating so we will just have to see what happens now.”
