Comic adds new town date to tour

Jimmy CarrTop stand-up comic and TV funnyman Jimmy Carr has added another show to his date in Telford after proving a box office buster.

Jimmy was only originally scheduled to appear at Oakengates Theatre @ The Place at 8pm on July 24, but tickets for his Gag Reflex show sold out within one day.

Another performance at 10pm the same night has now been added and tickets have already gone on sale.

Jimmy’s Telford date comes after he finished presenting the fourth series of his hit TV show 8 out of 10 cats.

A spokesman for the promoters said the stage show included some “explosive jazz and inspirational narrative hip hop” but warned that it was “not suitable for the easily offended” .

Jimmy’s latest tour follows the success of his 72-date national tour Off the Telly in 2005.

The theatre’s marketing officer Vicki Cotterell said tickets for the added show went on sale yesterday and were selling steadily but she expected a big rush once word got round.

She added: “It is an ideal opportunity for anyone who wasn’t able to snap up a ticket for the 8pm show to still get to see Jimmy.

“This will be the fourth time he has played at The Place and we expect business to be very brisk again.”

Anyone wanting further information or to book tickets should call the box office on (01952) 382382 or go online to www.theplacetelford.com
