Visitors were thrilled by the entertainment on show including a monster truck battle, a spectacular freestyle motocross display and the appearance of 8ft Titan the robot.

Other events at the show included an owl display and a road crash reconstruction.

And there were more than 400 trucks on show from all over the country, including huge recovery vehicles and fleets of lorries from haulage companies.

Even wet weather on Saturday could not stop thousands of families enjoying the weekend’s spectacular event.

The weather was dry yesterday and organisers said they were delighted with the success of the weekend.

Neil English, from organisers Event Developments, said: “We are pleased with how things went. On Saturday we had some difficult weather but still got a good attendance despite the rain.

“On Sunday we had the sunshine and a fantastic show for all the family. We had an awful lot of families here and everybody left with a smile on their face.

“I am confident we had a record attendance. It’s too early to say how many people were here, but we can definitely say we had several thousand visitors.”

He added: “There were more than 400 trucks this year which is magnificent. Overall it was a great success and it’s nice to know it is getting bigger every year.”

Mr English said the wet weather on Saturday forced organisers to amend their line-up. “The wet weather on Saturday affected some of the parades of trucks but all the entertainment on the schedule took place.” he said.

“Everything which was booked to happen on Saturday did happen and that is the most important thing.

“The weather only caused us to make slight amendments to our plans.

“The weather was great on Sunday and it was a really fantastic day.”

Mr English said the most popular entertainment over the weekend was the monster trucks display, particularly because it had been billed as an England v Wales battle.

He added: “They were closely followed by the freestyle motocross riders who put on a magnificent show.

“These guys risk their lives every time they perform and they perform all over Europe

“We are already planning for next year and we have received commitments from many of the sponsors and the tradespeople.

“Next year’s event will be even bigger and better and we have a few entertainment surprises up our sleeves.”
