The 26-year-old injured man was today under observation at Birmingham’s Selly Oak Hospital.

Telford police spokesman Chris Ammonds said the man had attempted to intervene in an argument between another man and a woman. He said the attacker arguing did not like the victim stepping in and an altercation began.

Mr Ammonds said: “During the course of the altercation the two men fell to the floor and a scuffle started.

“At some point during this scuffle the victim had a significant part of his right ear bitten off.

“Eventually the victim managed to get back to his feet and at this point the other man made off.
