Women in charity race

Thousands of women were today descending on a Telford park for the annual Race for Life fundraiser.

Organisers were expecting more than £250,000 to be raised for the fight against cancer.

Almost 3,000 women were due to run, jog or walk around Telford Town Park today and tomorrow over a 5k course.

One of those taking part, Sarah Steere, 25, of Bridgnorth, said: “I’m doing it because it’s a fun way to keep fit and to raise money for charity.

“I’ve been training for about a month now.”
