Police confirm body identity

Police today confirmed a man found dead in Market Drayton at the weekend is that of Dean Smith.

Mr Smith, from Tern View, was found in the Red Bank area of the town on Saturday morning. Formal identification was carried out at Sandwell Hospital in the West Midlands yesterday.

Mid and North Shropshire coroner Mr John Ellery opened and adjourned an inquest today.

A Home Office pathologist carried out a post mortem examination on 25-year-old Mr Smith’s body on Saturday night. The full result is still awaited, dependent on the outcome of tests.

Police have ruled out any suspicious circumstances and are preparing a report for the coroner.

Sue Weston, Dean’s mother, said her son was the “life and soul of any party”.
