Empty and neglected homes on a Telford housing estate are to be knocked down or revamped.
Telford & Wrekin Council members have backed regeneration plans which will see the council acquire homes in Sutton Hill by using compulsory purchase orders, negotiating with private home owners and using improvement notices.
The council says the homes that are refurbished are likely to be sold to housing associations, while the sites of those which need bulldozing will be earmarked for future development.
Residents have been calling out for work to improve Sutton Hill, claiming it has been ignored for decades.
Telford & Wrekin Council leader, Councillor Andrew Eade, said: “Through public consultation, we recognise housing is one of the main issues that people want addressed to improve their quality of life.”
