A Shropshire road will be closed for three months while Severn Trent Water carries out work.
The firm will be replacing a water main on the B4555, The Cankhorn, Knowle Sands, near Bridgnorth, from July 21 until September 12.
A section of the road between its junctions with Oldbury Road and Halfway House Lane will be closed throughout the works. Diversions will be set up.
Jamie Bailey, owner and manager of the Swan Inn, at Knowle Sands, said: “I think it will affect business.
“For people coming from outside of Bridgnorth it will be more difficult for them to find us. We have spoken to the council and asked if they can put special signs up diverting people to the Swan.”
Leader of Bridgnorth District Council, Elizabeth Yeomans, said: “With the road being closed it could cause quite a problem. There’s a concern for the businesses in the area such as Daniels Mill and the Swan Inn.”
A spokesman from Shropshire County Council said: “We have yet to receive a road closure application from the company’s contractors Grontmij, however, we have been in discussions about this and the scheme is expected to take place from 21 July until 12 September.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this will cause and we are keen to work with all residents and businesses to keep the impact of the works to a minimum.”
