Getting slim for summer

Personal trainers Juanda Castillo and Darren Ruff at the Welti Health and Leisure ClubTwo busy mums will be going head-to-head in our special competition to achieve the ultimate summer body - with the help of these fitness experts.

Sharon Mason, from Adbaston, near Newport, and her friend Jackie Taylor, from Ketley in Telford, are hoping to get in shape with the help of two of Shropshire’s leading personal trainers.

The friends impressed judges with an amusing poem all about the difficulties of getting back that trim figure after having children.

Now they will be pitted against each other to see who can shape up in top form with the help of Darren Ruff and Juanda Castillo, the top trainers at Shropshire’s Welti Health and Leisure Club.

Darren and Juando will each take charge of a new fitness schedule for one of the girls over the next three months with the aim of giving a body they really want to show off in the summer months.

Both said they can’t wait to get started and have great plans to ensure Sharon and Jackie get the most from their prize.

Sharon said she was delighted to have won and thought working with a personal trainer would make all the difference.

“I am looking forward to it because I have tried so many other things to get in shape and I think this will really work,” she added.

Check out next month’s Star Woman for a report on the first session when vital statistics will be recorded and measured and the girls, both aged 37, will get started on their new keep fit schedule.

The winning poem

Oh to be a Yummy Mummy

We’ve known each other since we were three
Been best mates have Jackie and Me
Been through school, had loads of fun
But we’ve forgotten who’s number one

We left the village to see some life
And ended up being our husbands’ wife
Got a house and had some kids
Put a lot of weight upon our mids!

We’ve tried the diets, we’ve done them all
We’ve even bought an inflatable ball
We need exercise bikes and treadmills too
But we need someone to make it true

We need a trainer to put us right
Someone strong, to make us fight
So Shropshire Star would you please hustle
To turn our Mummy Tummies into muscle.
