The re-building starts now as Town look to improve on a disappointing season, writes Shrews blogger James Pugh.
News from Paul Simpson about possible transfer targets have been positive and lets hope he can be very persuasive and get some quality players to come to the club.
He’s already got some things in his favour: a club which is financially secure and has got a decent fan base and an excellent ground.
Now all he has to do is convince players that the club can challenge for promotion next season.
What about potential signings? I think we need two centre halves, a winger, a goalscoring midfielder and a 20-goal striker.
But please lets not sign anyone under 20 or over 33. We’ve had too many players like that in the past that are either not experienced enough or well past their best.
What are fans views on loan signings? Although not my preferred option it worked for Hereford. What we need is a balance between our own players and players loaned from the higher leagues.
I hear there is talk that the players might go on a overseas pre-season training camp. Not that the players really deserve to go abroad, but if it means the players bond and come back refreshed then why not.
What do fans think about the club’s pre-season games?
As well as our usual games against local opposition which isn’t really going to test us, its good to see that we will be tested against a Premiership team in West Brom. It was unlikely than we could be fortunate enough to persuade Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal or Liverpool to visit the New Meadow.
Lets be patient and I’m sure Simpson will do the club proud in pre-season and get the players in we need as well as getting them ready for next season. Its going to be a big season for the club and the manager in particular.

It’s all been said before but all the best Paul, you have a lot of people relying on your capabilities.
I’m sure though that we will have a better season next year.
UP THE TOWN
ps. look out if we don’t.
Good luck to Paul hope he manages to get the players he wants. Town for the play off’s next season? I hope so, it can’t be as dreadful again CAN IT?
