Girl, 13, fights off attackers by pools

A young teenage girl fought back after she was grabbed by two youths as she walked home near some fishing pools in Telford.

The attackers struck as the 13-year-old was near the Dawley pools in Little Dawley on Saturday.

As they approached the teenager they grabbed hold of her wrists without warning and tried to pull her in the opposite direction.

Police said the youngster bravely fought back, “kicking one of the males between the legs”.

The youth she kicked immediately let go of the girl and fell to the floor while the other youth also released his grip to help him.

Telford police spokesman Chris Ammonds said the girl then ran home. The incident happened at about 7pm.

Mr Ammonds said: “The victim was physically unharmed but was shaken.

“At this point in time we are unsure of the motivation for this incident and that is something we are currently investigating. The victim was brave to defend herself.”

The victim describes both the males as being aged about 14 to 16, with blond hair, of slim build and not very tall. She also describes one as wearing a tracksuit and the other as wearing blue jeans and a T-shirt.

The victim also believes she saw the two offenders hanging around in a larger group of youths in a similar location the night before the incident took place.
