Drunken revellers who climbed scaffolding and got stuck had to be rescued by firefighters in Shrewsbury.A fire crew attended St Alkmund’s Place at 4.45am yesterday after reports that two men were scaling the scaffolding.
The member of the public who called police was unsure if the pair were burglars.
One stranded man was helped down by firefighters using a ladder, while the other was brought down from the scaffolding by police.
Constable Richard Emery, of Shrewsbury Police, said: “These men had their judgement impaired by consuming too much alcohol and unnecessarily put themselves and emergency services at risk.
“One of the men was taken into custody for public order offences.
“They were old enough to know better as one was in his 20s and the other in his 30s.
“They both came from the Shrewsbury area.”
