Boost for church project

Ian Rowe, the secretary of Morville Bell Project, outside Morville Parish ChurchA group which has raised £80,000 to get the bells at a Shropshire church peeling again after 50 years of silence wants to raise even more cash to keep them ringing.

The Morville Bell Project has raised the money to restore the bells in the tower of St Gregory the Great Church, in Morville, near Bridgnorth.

Now it is organising an open gardens event at Aldenham Park, on the A458 half-a-mile northwest of Morville, on Sunday between 2pm and 5pm.

Visitors can stroll around the beautiful gardens before tucking into homemade teas in the old chapel.

The event has been organised by members of the project who want to keep up the fundraising momentum.

Project secretary Ian Rowe said: “Although we’ve reached our original £80,000 target, we’re still keen on raising more money because we’ve got to have contingency funds.”

Entry costs £4 for adults and £1 for children.
