Two men wielding a plank of wood with nails in it robbed two people as they walked in the car park of a Shrewsbury pub.The terrified victims - who were walking home after a night out - were left shaken but escaped injury when they were confronted by the robbers in a car park near The Onslow Pub, Indian restaurant and bakery in Pensfold, Gains Park.
The men were threatened by the robbers who searched their pockets before taking just a few pounds in loose change before fleeing from the scene of the incident.
The victims had left the pub and were approached in the car park by the men, one of whom brandished the piece of wood with nails sticking out of it which is believed to have been taken from a nearby skip in The Ridings.
The second man is also thought to have had some kind of weapon.
It is believed the same two suspects were responsible for a disturbance outside the Indian restaurant a short time before the robbery, which happened between about 11.15pm and 11.40pm on Tuesday, when glasses were smashed outside.
They had also been in the Onslow pub earlier in the evening.
Detective Constable Chris Thomas, of Shrewsbury CID, who is investigating the incident, said: “We are examining CCTV from the area and carrying out a number of other inquiries to trace the offenders.
“They had already caused problems before the robbery, throwing glasses towards the Indian restaurant, and then returned to threaten the two victims and steal their money.
“If anyone was in the area at the time and saw this happen or knows the identity of the two offenders, I would ask them to please contact police on 08457 444888 as a matter of urgency.”
Both robbers were in their 20s. One is described as being about 5ft 10ins tall with a round face and short, mousey brown hair. He was wearing dark tracksuit bottoms with stripes, a T-shirt and a tracksuit top, which was tied around his neck.
The second man is said to have been about 5ft 9ins tall and of slim build. He was wearing a light-coloured baseball cap and a tracksuit.
