Angels and the Fron compete

Shropshire singing star Melanie Nakhla and her group, All Angels, will battle it out at the Classical Brit awards today against the Fron Male Voice Choir.

Both groups have been nominated for the album of the year category and will compete against nine classical stars at the Royal Albert Hall.

Melanie and her fellow Angels - Charlotte Ritchie, Laura Wright and Daisy Chute - were nominated in 2007 for their debut album, All Angels.

Now their second album, Into Paradise, has been nominated. Melanie, 19, said: “I was really chuffed to get in a second time round because it’s always hard with a second album.”

The members of the Fron Choir have been given a huge accolade at tonight’s awards - an invitation to spend the evening in the Royal Box.

Chairman Dave Jones along with conductor Ann Atkinson and treasurer Allan Smith will join the Duke and Duchess of Kent for the awards ceremony.
