A Telford man today described how he feared for his life after burglars forced their way into his home and beat him up.
Pensioner Denis Tomes is recovering at home after suffering bad bruising and needing more than 20 stitches to the back of his head.
The 65-year-old, who has lived in Telford for 20 years, said: “I think they left me for dead.”
His friend Christine Tomes and her 15-year-old daughter Chelsea Worthington, are now taking care of him at his home in Smith Crescent Wrockwardine Wood.
Craig Childs, 20, of no fixed abode, and a 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Telford Magistrates Court yesterday charged with aggravated burglary.
The case was adjourned to Shrewsbury Crown Court on May 12. The pair were remanded in custody.
