The application, which has been made by local firm J-Ross Developments, is part of a major redevelopment of the land at the entrance to Oswestry town centre. The scheme was granted outline planning consent last year.
The company is planning a mixed use for the site, now named the Oswestry Gateway Trade and Business Park, which will cover almost 10 acres of land.
It will include trade counter, car sales, child care facilities and office and light industrial use.
The reserved matters application for a Brewers Fayre seeks permission for a pub/restaurant with a bedroom block and associated works.
It says that 65 jobs will be created, with two-thirds of them being permanent, full-time jobs.
It also relates to an application for a Premier Inn, which would see a three storey hotel, with 59 bedrooms and 103 parking spaces, being built on the site.
The application says: “The site is well serviced by highway, public transport, cycle and pedestrian routes and is easily accessible by all modes of transport.”
It adds: “The proposals, as presented, are commended for consideration and detailed approval as an appropriate use of the site providing a sustainable enhancement of the area and town facilities and the opportunity for the erection of a diverse range of job opportunities.”
Hundreds of jobs look set to created across the whole retail and leisure development.
The application will go before Oswestry Borough Council’s planning committee for councillors to make the final decision.
The Brewers Fayre would give a welcome boost to the pub trade in the county and it follows an application made by The Barracuda group for planning permission to open one of its Smith and Jones pubs in the town centre.
