Torrential rain and thunderstorms battered Shropshire, leaving parts of the county without power.
People across the county woke up to heavy storms yesterday morning, including thunder and lightning.
Some areas had a couple of hours relief before the storms returned in the evening.
Many people in Shrewsbury experienced short power cuts in the town. The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in Copthorne was affected when a power cut hit after 8pm.
The emergency back-up system kicked in immediately and the fault had no effect on patients or staff.
Torrential rain hit the Oswestry area at 5.30pm yesterday causing flash flooding on parts of the A5 when drains failed to cope with the downpour.
But Shropshire Star weatherman John Warner predicts much drier weather for the week ahead.
Mr Warner said: “It’s a bit overcast but there could be one or two more outbreaks of rain today but most of the rain is fizzling out now.
“It will brighten up during today, before the warm weather arrives tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday where we will have plenty of sunshine.”
Temperatures were expected to reach 19C (66F) today before dropping to 9C (48F) tonight.
Shropshire residents could enjoy temperatures as high as 22C (72F) during the rest of the week.
