Now Town fans have their say

Paul SimpsonMore than 100 tickets have already been snapped up for Shrewsbury Town supporters’ end of season presentation night on Tuesday.

The event will see awards including player of the year, young player of the year and most promising young player - all chosen directly by the fans.

Town’s official awards night was staged last week, but organiser Chris Smith hopes this event will appeal to the ordinary fan on the street.

It’s been a disappointing season for Shrewsbury, who were finishing their campaign away at Rochdale this afternoon - but several players have still caught the eye.

And Smith said: “Marc Tierney did well at the official awards night and he’ll obviously be in the frame again.

“Then you’ve got people like Ben Herd who are very consistent.

“We’re very grateful to Paul Simpson (manager) as he’s promised that the whole squad will be there for the awards night.

“The only two who can’t make it are Colin Murdock, who will be away in Dubai, and James Meredith, who is going to be on his way to Australia.”

The event is being held in the Sovereign Lounge at Town’s new stadium on Oteley Road. Tickets are £5 for adults or £3 for juniors and OAPs. For more information, contact Chris Smith on 01952 604742.
