The Headlines say it all. Roll on next season, but poor Paul, how many players can he get rid of?

I had a round trip of 280 miles to watch Town in their last home game of the season, collecting on the way my 80-year-old brother from Oswestry. The game was dire and I wish Paul Simpson all the luck in the world in the mammoth task ahead of him to rebuild a very very poor squad.

That said, as a supporter of STFC for 60 years I despair at the club’s attitude toward its fans at the New Meadow. I wanted to entertain my brother to lunch at the ground, only to find that ambition to be an impossibility for those other than members of something called the Sovereign Club.

I wanted to park my car at the ground, but two days before the match was advised that all the spaces were taken, thus my brother and I were obliged to walk three quarters of a mile to get to the ground. I ordered a taxi to take us back to the car park, then found that we had to walk another half mile to a police barrier to pick it up as cabs were not allowed any closer.

In the ground at half-time my brother and I decided to change seats from one end of the main stand to the other - there were plenty of spaces. As we made our way an officious steward, carefully trained at the Himmler School of PR berated us for “crossing the lines” in front of the dugouts. When asked why, he replied ungrammatically,’Rules is rules.’

If this attitude is symptomatic of STFC in its new abode then I despair for the club as much as I despair for the team, for clearly the old Gay Meadow was infinitely more user-friendly than the New Meadow, which seems to have been turned into an impenetrable and unwelcoming fortress.

Someone at Chairman or Chief Executive level needs to sort it out and ensure that the paying customers are treatmed with proper respect and courtesy. Last Saturday’s esperience, on the pitch and off it, was dire in the extreme and a disgrace to the club I’ve supported, albeit from afar, all my life.

I wish to raise a few points in relation to Mikes Post.

    1) The situation with parking has been well documented, surely he knew the problems with them

    2) The resturant is availalble 6days a week……..Why pick a match day to go for a
meal, surely the fact that it was a match day, would mean common sense would prevail, and he would realise that it was going to be used for
    sponsors????

    3) trying to change stands BY WALKING INFRONT
OF THE DUGOUT???? well of course you cannot walk
past the dugout, its a secure area, if they let
people walk past, who knows what dangers could be
    incured …
Instead of bertating the club, just use a bit of common sense!
