Aces high for final day

ball-and-flag.jpgSome of region’s hottest golf stars will take to the greens at Shrewsbury Golf Club on Friday for the Shropshire Star Hole in One Final.

The competition will see 24 players attempt to score a hole in one across a range of par-three holes.

Qualification for the contest has been tough - all entrants must have scored a hole-in-one during competition over the last 12 months.

One of the hot tips next Friday is sure to be Matthew Kelly, from Church Stretton Golf Club, who holed over a massive 267-yard tee shot last year.

Also in contention will be Neil Gibson from Llanymynech, Thomas Clutton from Hawkstone and Steven Wild, from Patshull.

The action is due to get under way at 2pm on Friday, with presentations set for 5pm.

The day’s proceedings will be overseen by John Jones, President-Elect of the Shropshire and Herefordshire Union.

It is the second time the Shropshire Star has hosted the event, following last year’s successful competition.
