Separate schools for village’s pupils

National Schools, Clun. These are, according to the postcard caption, National Schools, Clun.

The “schools” part will be plural because there would have been separate boys’ and girls’ schools in the building.

The picture is undated, but possibly from the Edwardian period. It is in a family album owned by Mrs Grace Edwards, of Wellington, and a written note in the album says: “Where Dad went to school.”

In this case “Dad” would be her father-in-law, Bill Edwards, who was born at The Hurst, Clun, in 1892.
