A school on the Shropshire/Welsh border has been judged to be one of the best in Wales after inspectors labelled it as “outstanding”.
Chirk Infants School received huge praise from the Estyn inspectors.
Seven areas of the school’s education were inspected and all received a grade one score and were found to be “good with outstanding features”.
The quality of 61 per cent of the teaching also received grade one marks, which far exceeds the Welsh average of 17 per cent.
In their report inspectors noted that “children in both the nursery and reception classes receive an outstanding start to their school life and are already very well prepared for the new foundation phase”.
Headteacher Mrs Kath Eccleston said: “I am absolutely delighted with this outstanding report which reflects the professionalism and dedication of everyone involved in providing the children of Chirk with an excellent education.”
