Homes plan for air raid shelters

development.jpgPlans are in the pipeline to knock down a group of former military blocks and air raid shelters in Shropshire.

The buildings at Prees Heath would be demolished to make way for four homes.

An application submitted to North Shropshire District Council says the intention is to demolish five ex-military dormitories and three air raid shelters and replace them with four two-storey single-family homes.

Applicant Dr Julian Roberts said: “The proposal is concerned with the former military buildings lying immediately to the north of the existing bungalow.”

Dr Roberts added: “The buildings were originally built to house military personnel associated with the airfield.

“Today, Stet Bungalow still exists and two further buildings are still used for storage.

“The others are becoming increasingly derelict, mainly because of continuous vandalism.”

Here here! If permission is given (which I hope it is not)provision should be made for a full recording of the structures. This site is a little piece of Shropshire history.
