Plans for deli in high street

Plans to transform a former Bridgnorth High Street chemist into a delicatessen have been unveiled.

An application to breathe new life into the former Beardsley’s premises, at Northgate, has been sent to planning officers at Bridgnorth District Council.

Philip Long, from Stottesdon, has applied for planning permission for the town centre premises, where there would also be a small sit-down area for takeaway customers.

The shop, which has been closed for about a year, is next door to the former doctors’ surgery at Northgate House.

Richard Fortune, planning officer, said: “The shop previously had permission which was not implemented to turn it into an ice-cream parlour.”

R Beaman Estates was granted planning permission earlier this year to transform the town’s former doctors’ surgery, a Grade II listed building, into a bar/restaurant and apartments.
