Conway son’s big night out

Derek ConwayYou’d think that Henry Conway would be trying to keep a low profile, after his damaging role in the parliamentary expenses scandal which has all-but ended his father’s political career.

But the flamboyant son of former Shrewsbury MP Derek Conway seems incapable of taking a humble approach to life.

The self-styled “Queen Sloane” of London was pictured stepping out of a horse-drawn carriage, dressed as a Regency dandy as he arrived at one of the city’s most exclusive nightspots.

The 25-year-old former Harrow schoolboy rolled up at Mahiki - a favoured haunt for young royals where he organises parties for the privileged - in a carriage pulled by two impressive steeds and driven by coachmen in top hats.

He was dressed in tight white trousers, tucked into black boots, with a close fitting double breasted jacket and foppish white shirt.

It’s the sort of outfit which tends to attract attention - and he lapped it up, posing happily for photographs by the carriage door.

Hooray Henry was wrapped up in his father’s Commons expenses scandal earlier this year when it was revealed he had been paid more than £32,000 in allowances and expenses as Derek Conway’s “parliamentary researcher”, despite being an undergraduate at Cambridge University at the time.

It also emerged that his younger brother Freddie received £50,000 of taxpayers’ money from his MP father as an assistant in the Commons, while he was a full-time student many miles away at Newcastle.

It seems Henry has spent a significant share of his expenses on fashion accessories… he has also been spotted recently in tight leather trousers, furs, and even white glittery stars.

they really are an arrogant lot the Conways.

I remember Conway in the mid 90’s as Shrewsbury & Atchams MP & he was an insufferable oaf then.

The problem is that the adverse publicity will not even sink in the the fact that these over priveliged lot will not bat an eyelid.

It’s all very acceptable to them.
