Wrexham’s relegation after 87 years in the Football League will be confirmed if they lose at home to Notts County on Saturday and Dagenham & Redbridge avoid defeat at Rotherham.

The visitors made the worst possible start when skipper Richard Hope hesitated on the edge of his own area, allowing Kevin McIntyre to sneak in and loop a header over Gavin Ward in the seventh minute.

And the Shrews doubled their advantage over Brian Little’s side before the hour mark thanks to more defensive hesitancy from the visitors.

Darren Moss was left unmarked to head into the top corner from close range after Marc Tierney’s centre.

Substitute James Constable, who had only just been introduced into the action, added a third in the 68th minute when he scored on the rebound after Dave Hibbert’s penalty had been saved by Ward.
