Bristol City v Wolves

Wolves’ promotion momentum stuttered in their key clash with Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

Mick McCarthy’s side looked the better outfit in a match of relentless endeavour but could not find the goal touch which had accounted for Charlton in their previous game.

The goalless stalemate forced Wolves to lose a little more ground in their pursuit of a top six finish and will be frustrating for a side which created the clearer opportunities throughout.

And you can bet manager Mick McCarthy will be furious with referee Paul Taylor for turning down what looked a clear penalty following an 85th minute challenge by substitute Nick Carle on Matt Jarvis.
